FAQS

  • Trek is a new offering in the series of Fathering Expeditions at Restoration Project. By their 16th birthday, your son or daughter is well on their way to adulthood.

Fathering our almost-grown-up-children with intentionality is so vital during this exciting and pivotal season of their lives. We believe that Trek offers two elements that will help establish a solid foundation upon which their adult life can thrive with confidence and purpose.

First, the cities and wilds of Costa Rica offer an opportunity for adventure and play, but perhaps more importantly they offer an opportunity for your son or daughter to encounter the reality of life as much of the world knows it. Much of our time in Costa Rica will be spent in Alajuelita, partnering with a brilliant organization that serves children and adults who need housing and special care for various reasons, such as escaping human trafficking, medical issues, poverty, and more. To put it bluntly, we hope our time playing and teaching and laughing and working with these kids and adults will break our hearts. We hope your son or daughter will catch a vision for the world and will never be the same.

Second, this is an opportunity for you to see the man or woman your child is becoming and to offer your blessing. There’s nothing more powerful in the life of a child (no matter their age) than the strong and tender words of a father.

Along with our time in Alajuelita, Trek will also take us into the wild. We will experience the thrill of a trek into the Costa Rican Jungle.

  • We will meet at Miami International Airport on Friday, July 19th. More information about exactly where and how we will meet will be shared later on.

IMPORTANT: You are responsible for transportation to and from Miami. Please plan to arrive by 1:00 pm on July 19th. Our return flight lands at 6:00 PM on July 28. You’ll want to give yourself a few hours to collect your bags, clear customs/immigration, check in, and go back through security. That means we recommend you take care when scheduling your flight home from Miami. Due to the time of arrival into Miami, you may need to stay overnight in Miami before returning home. Overnight accommodations in Miami are not included.

  • There’s no need for prior experience. Your Trek guides have decades of experience traveling around the globe, including Costa Rica.

  • Your guides will make sure that every traveler has all the information they need to be ready. Along with several team zoom-meetings, you will receive packing and informational lists to help you get organized and feel confident about the trip.

  • All travelers MUST have a US Passport that does not expire before January, 2025. Please double check your passports and expiration dates as soon as possible.

No prior arrangements are necessary for visas into Costa Rica.

  • No vaccines are required for entry to Costa Rica at this time. A list of CDC recommended vaccines for travel to these areas will be shared with you upon registration.

Emergency medical insurance is included in the registration fee. This includes in-country medical care as well as emergency evacuation costs. Trip cancellations for personal reasons are not covered.
