FAQS

  • By their 16th birthday, your son or daughter is well on their way to adulthood.

Fathering our almost-grown-up-children with intentionality is so vital during this exciting and pivotal season of their lives. We believe that Trek offers two elements that will help establish a solid foundation upon which their adult life can thrive with confidence and purpose.

First, the cities and wilds of Kenya offer an opportunity for adventure and play, but perhaps more importantly they offer an opportunity for your son or daughter to encounter the reality of life as much of the world knows it. Much of our time in Kenya will be spent in Nairobi, partnering with a brilliant organization that serves children and adults to help break cycles of poverty through education support, meals, and unconditional love. To put it bluntly, we hope our time playing and teaching and laughing and working with these kids and adults will break our hearts. We hope your son or daughter will catch a vision for the world and will never be the same.

Second, this is an opportunity for you to see the man or woman your child is becoming and to offer your blessing. There’s nothing more powerful in the life of a child (no matter their age) than the strong and tender words of a father.

Along with our time in Nairobi, Trek will also take us into the wild. We will experience the thrill of camping on the side of a volcano followed by a bucket-list safari in the Maasai Mara during the famous wildebeest migration period.

  • You and your child will be picked up at Nairobi International Airport on Thursday, July 24th.

IMPORTANT: You are responsible for transportation to and from Nairobi. Please plan to depart from your home airport on July 23rd in order to arrive in Nairobi on July 24th. Flight itineraries must be approved by your trip guides before you purchase them. More information on specific arrival and departure time expectations will be shared upon registration.

  • There’s no need for prior experience. Your Trek guides have decades of experience traveling around the globe, including Kenya.

  • Your guides will make sure that every traveler has all the information they need to be ready.

If desired, we can help organize your flights to and from Nairobi to give you peace of mind and a smooth journey.

Along with several team zoom-meetings, you will receive packing and informational lists to help you get organized and feel confident about the trip.

  • All travelers MUST have a US Passport that does not expire before January, 2026. Please double check your passports and expiration dates as soon as possible.

Visas are required for entry into Kenya. This is included in the cost of the trip and will be organized by trip leaders.

  • No vaccines are required for entry to Kenya at this time. A list of CDC recommended vaccines for travel to these areas will be shared with you upon registration. Additionally, while we will not be traveling in areas where malaria is prevalent, feel free to speak with your doctor should you want more information about malaria prophylactic medication.

Emergency medical insurance is included in the registration fee. This includes in-country medical care as well as emergency evacuation costs. Trip cancellations for personal reasons are not covered.

  • We’d love to chat more with you if you have any questions. Please email Jeremy at jeremy@restorationproject.net
